The second annual Poker Run Benefiting the Paul Montavon Sr. Scholarship Fund made a stop for lunch at the Greendale Fire House Saturday, August 18 2007. Members of Greendale Fire Department not only helped serve food and drinks for the riders but also participated in the run itself. With Greendale positioned at the crossroads a major interstate, a busy US highway, and a well traveled State Route its sits poised in an easy to access location making it an excellent stop for this extremely charitable event. Over eighty riders joined the ranks of Fire of Iron for this Poker run coming in at around 90 miles. The riders come from all walks of life but have a direct finger on pulse of the Fire Service. Many of the Brethren young and old come together for this ride to raise money and enjoy the comradery. Greendale Fire Department was proud to be a part of this event and look forward to the future of such dealings. Click Here to View the Gallery
Greendale Fire & Rescue will be hosting a multi-burn live training exercise August 4 2007. The planned evolution will be encircled with Fire Behavior, long lay, and Rural Fire tactics. The burn site is approximately 30 acres and has a possible 10 buildings to be involved. All local departments have been invited. The Burn begins at 0900 and should be wrapping up at 1200 with plenty of time for hands on and direct instruction to all fire fighters. Learning objectives are simple…FIRE and Supply. Safety is a major concern all around the fire service, NFPA 1403 is the rule of the day. A special task force burn team has been invited and will hold the candle. Special thanks to the property owners once again for allowing the GFD this valuable tool to help keep it on top of the game. LT Putnam
